Telus announced Tuesday it will invest more than $24 billion to expand and enhance its network infrastructure and operations across Ontario over the next five years, as part of its larger commitment to invest $73 billion across Canada by 2028.
Its investment in Ontario in 2024 will see Telus build new cell towers across the province, expanding coverage in areas including Ottawa and Windsor, according to a Telus press release.
Telus said, since 2000, it has invested more than $68 billion in Ontario, and $259 billion nationally, to build and develop network infrastructure, operations and spectrum, connecting homes and businesses to its 5G and PureFibre networks.
Last week, Telus announced it was investing $17 billion in British Columbia, more than $16 billion in Alberta, and $10 billion in Quebec through 2028.
In all of the announcements, Telus said its investments are partly going toward enhancing its 5G network with open radio access network (ORAN) technology.
