Super Channel announced Tuesday the appointment of Brandon Best to the position of director of program content.
His promotion was effective March 4, but was announced only now, a company spokesperson confirmed.
Best has been Super Channel’s contracts manager since March 2010. He continues to be based in Edmonton, reporting to Kim Ball, chief content and communications officer.
In his new role, Best will be responsible for supporting Ball in executing the company’s content strategy, assisting with acquisitions and production development for its linear broadcast channels, on-demand and FAST channels, including reviewing and evaluating potential acquisitions. He will continue to oversee contract management and add supervision of content scheduling to his responsibilities, says a press release announcing his appointment.
“Brandon has been an integral member of our programming team for well over a decade and has demonstrated his keen understanding of our business, our deal process and our content needs. I look forward to the contributions he will bring to Super Channel in this new role,” Ball said in a statement.
Best first joined Super Channel in May 2008 as programming assistant and was promoted to contracts manager in 2010 after a brief hiatus to manage live event merchandise sales at Rexall Place, past home of the Edmonton Oilers.
He also served as executive producer on the feature length documentary Yesterday Was Everything, which tells the story of Wisconsin metal band Misery Signals. Best has also been involved in the production of the band’s touring live show for more than 20 years.
