Super Channel marketing director Stacey Brooks passes away

Super Channel announced Monday the passing of its director of marketing, Stacey Brooks, who died April 22 after battling breast cancer. She was 50.

“It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we share the passing of our esteemed colleague and dear friend, Stacey Brooks,” Super Channel president and CEO Don McDonald wrote in a message Sunday.

“For those of us fortunate enough to have known and collaborate with Stacey, we have lost not just a colleague but a cherished friend. Since joining Super Channel in July 2023, she led our direct-to-consumer marketing campaigns, on-air promotions, digital marketing strategies including social media, and played a pivotal role in shaping our corporate and channel-specific branding,” McDonald said.

Based in Toronto, Brooks joined Super Channel last July as part of an internal restructuring at the Edmonton-based pay TV network.

“Prior to her tenure at Super Channel, Stacey showcased her expertise at Bell Canada, where she held various senior marketing roles over a span of 16 years, culminating as the Senior Manager of Marketing Communications for Bell Consumer Services,” McDonald added.

“Words cannot adequately express our sadness or convey our appreciation for the privilege of working alongside Stacey. Our hearts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time.”

Born in Scarborough, Ont., Brooks leaves her parents Ronald and Louina Brooks, husband John Brumell, son Jake, sister Kelly, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, niece and nephews.

A Celebration of Life honouring Brooks will be held in the coming months. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Princess Margaret Hospital or to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto.
