Corus announced Tuesday Byron Garby, general manager of national radio sales at Corus, is retiring at the end of January.
Garby has held the position since joining Corus in 2015.
“This marks a long and successful career in advertising spanning over 43 years,” reads Corus’s announcement of his retirement.
Garby began his career at advertising agency McCann Erickson as a media buyer, then an account executive, before joining Telemedia Radio Sales and embarking on a 37-year career in the radio sales industry. He held senior management roles at Telemedia, Standard Broadcasting, Milestone Broadcasting (Flow 93.5), Bell Media and ZoomerMedia.
“In 2015, Byron joined Corus and described his tenure there as one of the highlights of his career,” Corus’s statement says.
Garby has been actively involved in several industry associations, including Numeris Radio and Audio committees and the Radio Connects advisory board. He is a former president of the Canadian Association of Broadcast Representatives (CABR) and the Broadcast Executives Society (BES).
“Byron leaves a legacy of goodwill amongst colleagues and clients alike,” Corus says.
