Calgary’s Fair Entry residents now eligible for Rogers Connected for Success program

CALGARY – Rogers Communications and the City of Calgary announced Tuesday clients of the city’s Fair Entry subsidy program are now eligible for low-cost internet, wireless and TV services through the Rogers Connected for Success program.

“This pilot program with Rogers will increase Calgarians’ access to affordable wireless and internet services, which will open more doors for employment, education, healthcare and more,” Jyoti Gondek, Calgary’s mayor, said Tuesday in a press release.

“Our hope is to partner with other telecommunications companies in the future to give Calgarians a wider choice of service providers that best meet their needs,” she added.

Cartt reported in September that Calgary was planning to partner with Rogers for the pilot program.

The Rogers Connected for Success program is available to more than 2.5 million low-income Canadians receiving various government income supports, now including eligible Fair Entry participants in Calgary. No funds are being exchanged as part of this partnership, the press release says.

Today’s announcement follows Rogers’s introduction earlier this month of its new $25-per-month Connected for Success 5G Mobile Plan, which includes a no-cost 5G smartphone and 3 GB of data with no overage charges.

“We’re deeply committed to making our services, including 5G technology, more affordable and accessible for all Canadians,” Phil Hartling, president of wireless at Rogers, said in the release. “Today’s announcement with the City of Calgary builds on a number of investments we have made to help connect all Canadians across the country.”
