TORONTO – Free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) service Pluto TV announced Tuesday the service in Canada has officially debuted eight new channels featuring reality and comedy series from the iconic MTV and Comedy Central brands.
The five new channels from MTV include MTV Reality (Jersey Shore, The Hills, Teen Mom, 16 and Pregnant, Geordie Shore), MTV Dating (Ex On the Beach, Celebrity Ex On the Beach, Are You the One?, Disaster Date, Friendzone), and single-series channels The Challenge, Catfish and Ridiculousness (featuring past seasons of those three MTV series).
The launch of the Comedy Central channels on Pluto TV signifies the first time the brand has had its own TV channels in Canada, explains a press release. The three new channels include Comedy Central Pluto TV (Chapelle’s Show, Reno 911!, Comedy Central Presents, Key & Peele, Kroll Show), Comedy Central Animation (Beavis and Butt-Head, Daria, Drawn Together, Ugly Americans) and single-series channel Comedy Central Stand-Up (featuring Comedy Central Presents seasons 1-15).
“As Pluto TV approaches its one-year anniversary in Canada, we are thrilled to showcase eight new channels from MTV and Comedy Central, two brands that truly shaped pop culture, comedy, and reality as we know it,” Doug Smith, senior vice-president of streaming and content licensing in Canada for Pluto TV’s parent company Paramount Global, said in the release.
“Our mission to entertain the planet continues with our ever-growing offering of iconic brands and content that ensure Canadians make Pluto TV their FAST destination,” Smith said.
