MONTREAL – Telefilm Canada announced Wednesday seven French-language feature films are receiving a total of $3.8 million in funding as part of the second round of selections in its Production Program’s big budget stream.
The films include the Canada/France co-produced comedy Deux femmes en or, directed by Chloé Robichaud, written by Catherine Léger, produced by Vieille Amérique Inc., and distributed by Maison4tiers.
Also receiving funding is the Maison4tiers-distributed drama Kaboul Montréal, produced by Caramel Film Inc., directed by Bachir Bensaddek and written by Marie Vien.
Two films distributed by Axia Films will receive funding. They are: the drama Le train, directed and written by Marie Brassard and produced by Microclimat Films Inc.; and the horror Nervures, produced by 1976 Productions Inc., directed by Raymond St-Jean, and written by St-Jean and Martin Girard.
The three remaining films receiving funding are all co-productions between Canada and other countries.
Cap Farewell is a Canada/Belgium/Netherlands co-produced drama from writer and director Vanja d’Alcantara. The film is produced by Corporation de développement et de production ACPAV Inc. and distributed by Maison4tiers.
The Canada/Morocco co-production L’héritier des secrets is a drama directed by Mohamed Nadif, written by Nadif and Olivier Coussemacq, produced by Objectif 9 Inc., and distributed by Filmoption International.
Ma mère, Dieu et Sylvie Vartan is a Canada/France co-produced drama directed and written by Ken Scott, produced by Christal Films Productions Inc., and distributed by Opale Films.
Previously, Telefilm Canada announced in April the selection of eight French-language feature film titles receiving a total of $14 million in production funding as part of the first round of decisions for the big budget stream.
Telefilm says in today’s press release more funding decisions will be announced in the coming weeks.
“Statistics on all films funded in the year will be released once all funding decisions have been made,” the release says.
