President of TVA film studio MELS steps down

MONTREAL – Martin Carrier, the president of TVA Group’s film studio MELS, is stepping down on March 24, a press release said Thursday.

“I leave with the knowledge that MELS is on the right track,” Carrier said in the release. “During my tenure, I have had the opportunity to take on major challenges with highly skilled professionals, to get through a pandemic and to make a major technological shift towards virtual production. I leave behind me a strong management team in which I have full confidence to ensure MELS’ future success.”

Carrier was involved in developing the studio’s business and its reach and launched a virtual production platform during the pandemic to “offer local and foreign productions new creative possibilities,” the release said.

The release said a leadership transition plan will take place in the coming weeks.

MELS includes soundstage and equipment rental, virtual production, visual effects, sound and picture postproduction and theatrical distribution.
