VANCOUVER – Telus announced today that it has created a new division, called Telus Consumer Solutions, which merges other company segments and creates its first chief product officer position.
Consumer Solutions will bring together Mobility Solutions, Home Solutions, and Customer Excellence into a single team managed by Zainul Mawji, who will be executive vice president and president, a press release said.
Jim Senko, who spent more than two decades with the company and will retire from the company at the end of this year, will be chief product officer and executive vice president of the division. He will “establish an integrated development function and lead product innovation, enabling TELUS to seamlessly deliver best-in-class solutions for its customers,” a release said.
Senko and Mawji “will spend the year laying the groundwork for the team’s ongoing success with a clear strategy and succession plan,” the release added.
“The changes announced today represent the next chapter of TELUS’ exciting growth journey, propelling our efforts to optimize our market performance and capitalize on synergies across our company to fuel our long-term success,” said Telus president and CEO Darren Entwistle in the release.
“Together, they [Mawji and Senko] will drive the integration of our wireless, wireline and security solutions organizations through our differentiated service offerings and world-leading execution, enabling positive outcomes for our customers and communities, our investors and our team members in Canada’s dynamic marketplace,” Entwistle added.
The news comes as Rogers and Shaw draw nearer to closing their historic merger, one that will see a bigger rival in Rogers in Telus’s home court of western Canada.
Under former president and CEO Joe Natale, Rogers has over the years claimed an improved position in the telecommunication market by focusing on customer service.
