Nelvana signs content deal with Germany’s Kixi

TORONTO — Corus Entertainment’s children’s content producer and distributor Nelvana announced last week it has signed a licensing agreement with German SVOD platform Kixi, making more than 300 episodes of its most popular cartoon series available to Kixi’s subscribers.

The package includes iconic classics such as Franklin and Max & Ruby, as well as other fan favourites including Jane and the Dragon and Jacob 2/2, according to a Corus press release. In addition to the series, the content package includes several animated specials and movies based on the series’ characters, the release adds.

“We are extremely proud to welcome Nelvana as our newest content partner,” said Sascha Stradtmann, head of acquisitions and programming at Kixi, which is part of Trias Media Group, in the release.

“I loved to watch cartoons by Nelvana when I was a kid and also liked working with Nelvana’s shows during my times at Nickelodeon and KIKA. Nelvana stands for top-of-the-line quality children’s content. No wonder their shows are loved by generations of kids around the world and showered with awards,” Stradtmann added.

“At Kixi, we focus on presenting the best educationally valuable children’s content to our customers and hence Nelvana is a perfect fit.”

The Nelvana series and movies are available on all of Kixi’s platforms, including the Amazon Prime Video Channel “Kixi Select” and the Kixi apps on Deutsche Telekom’s MagentaTV and NetRange MMH GmbH powered Smart TVs.
