Bell MTS expands all-fibre broadband network in rural Manitoba

STONY MOUNTAIN, Man. — Bell MTS announced today it is expanding its all-fibre broadband network to bring high-speed Internet connectivity to more than 6,500 locations across seven communities in rural Manitoba.

The expansion is part of Bell’s capital expenditure acceleration program and will bring all-fibre connections to homes and businesses in the communities of Blumenort, Ile des Chênes, Landmark, Matlock, St. Adolphe, Stony Mountain and Winnipeg Beach starting this fall, according to a Bell press release.

“Fully funded by Bell, this broadband network expansion will provide fast and high-capacity 100% fibre connections with Internet download speeds of up to 1.5 Gbps and access to leading Bell services such as Gigabit Fibe Internet, Whole Home Wi-Fi and Fibe TV,” the release reads.

“At Bell MTS, we are proud to be expanding the deployment of our faster, more climate-resilient fibre networks in rural Manitoba, enabling brand new economic opportunities for both businesses and consumers in 7 more communities across the province,” said Ryan Klassen, vice-chair of Bell MTS and Western Canada, in the release.

“Today’s announcement builds on our industry-leading capital expenditure plan to connect more Manitobans in communities large and small with the best network technology available to communicate, learn, travel and stay informed.”

Bell MTS also announced it is close to completing its fibre network builds in the rural Manitoba communities of Altona, Plum Coulee, Emerson and Morris. This broadband expansion, bringing direct fibre connections to approximately 4,500 locations in the Pembina Valley region, was announced by Bell in September 2021, as Cartt.ca reported here.
