EDMONTON — Super Channel announced today Secret Societies: In the Shadows (above), its new original docuseries produced by Go Button Media, will premiere Sept. 5 at 8 p.m. ET on Super Channel Fuse.
Super Channel announced last December it had greenlit the series, one of several it has commissioned or acquired from Toronto-based Go Button Media.
“Around the world, and throughout history, secret societies have bubbled under the surface. In crypts and clubhouses, under lock and key, in the darkest corners of the internet, they assemble for mysterious purposes,” reads a press release.
Each of the six episodes of Secret Societies: In the Shadows explores the murky history of a secret society, including the Knights Templar, the Freemasons, the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, the Illuminati, the Skull and Bones, and Le Cercle.
The series looks at the origins and missions of these secret societies, and examines the rituals and oaths taken by their members and which famous people were involved in them.
“Did they pull the levers of power, or aim to destroy those in charge?” the release says. “Most importantly, what may be left of these organizations? Is it possible that some groups, however archaic, are still operating in the shadows?”

In addition to premiering on Super Channel Fuse on Sept. 5, the series will also be available to stream on Super Channel On Demand the same day.
Super Channel is available via most cable providers across Canada as well as Amazon Prime Video Channels and Apple TV+.
