Develop Nova Scotia announces Eastlink, Bell to connect more Nova Scotians to high-speed Internet

HALIFAX – Develop Nova Scotia announced today another 400 Nova Scotian homes and businesses will have access to high-speed Internet after new contracts with Eastlink and Bell were signed by the Crown corporation.

“Eastlink will expand access to 66 more homes and businesses in the Annapolis Valley, and is working with Develop Nova Scotia on solutions to reach other underserved areas across the province,” a press release explains.

“Bell will expand access to a further 333 homes and businesses located in smaller, less populated areas.”

Eastlink is expected to complete its project by January 2023, and Bell is expected to be done by December 2023, according to Develop Nova Scotia’s website.

Develop Nova Scotia is responsible for advancing high-speed Internet access projects across Nova Scotia. The first projects were announced in February 2020.

“To date, the initiative has reached almost 60,000 locations—providing new or improved internet access to Nova Scotian homes and businesses,” the press release says.

“Together with our internet service provider partners, we are working hard to ensure projects underway are delivered on time and to identify solutions for the remaining homes and businesses,” said Jennifer Angel, president and CEO of Develop Nova Scotia, in the release.

“Thanks to this announcement with Bell and Eastlink, we are one step closer to our goal.”
