MONTREAL — Bell Media announced today its French-language Investigation channel will present a new documentary series, Femme, je te tue (Woman, I Kill You), starting Tuesday, Jan. 25 at 10 p.m. ET.
Comprised of eight 30-minute episodes, Femme, je te tue features Quebec actress and author Ingrid Falaise (above, left) and researcher Sarah Bernard (right) who take a poignant look at eight Quebec feminicides.
The docuseries revisits the events that led to the tragic fates of Clémence Beaulieu-Patry, Marylène Lévesque, Sonia Raymond, Milia Abrar, Francine Bissonnette, Jaël Cantin, Josiane Arguin and Véronique Barbe.
Falaise speaks to the families of the victims and Bernard reports the facts surrounding each story.
“Knowing that in 2020, a woman was killed every two and a half days in Canada, the documentary series asks itself: why so much hatred towards women? By collecting testimonies from parents, friends and children of the victims, and with the help of interviews with experts, Femme, je te tue attempts to understand the fatal cycle that led to these crimes,” reads an English translation of Bell Media’s French press release.
“The series highlights the stories of these eight women so that they are not forgotten, so that their stories are more than just trivia,” the translation says.
Femme, je te tue was produced by Anémone Télé in collaboration with Bell Media.
The first episode of the series will be available to view for free on Noovo.ca after its linear broadcast on Investigation.
