REGINA – SaskTel announced today almost $209,000 in TelCare donations from 2021 will go to 47 charitable and non-profit organizations in Saskatchewan.
TelCare is driven by SaskTel employees – the “fund collects donations annually through a voluntary payroll deduction,” a press release explains. Almost $140,000 was donated by employees, and SaskTel committed to matching 50% of each donation.
“Despite the challenges faced by many this past year, it is clear the tradition of giving remains alive and well as the company welcomes the new year,” the press release says.
In 2021, there were 648 employees supporting the fund who on average donated $200 per year. This, plus SaskTel’s 50% match “has allowed each of the nine TelCare districts to contribute much more than they may have otherwise been capable of on their own.”
TelCare funds things such as breakfast programs at schools and supports organizations including Care and Share Saskatoon and Teddy Bears Anonymous.
“SaskTel employees really are the driving force behind TelCare,” said Doug Burnett, SaskTel president and CEO, in the press release.
“What makes me proud to work for a company like SaskTel is that the corporation and its employees have always embraced giving back to the communities where we live and work and I’m glad to say the same for 2021.”
