But viewers can watch for free during channel preview
TORONTO — Blue Ant Media announced today its specialty channel BBC First will air the Canadian broadcast premiere of British prison drama Time during the channel’s upcoming nationwide free preview event.
The three-part drama stars award-winning actor Sean Bean (above left, Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, Osprey: Sea Raptor) and four-time BAFTA nominee Stephen Graham (above right, Boardwalk Empire, Line of Duty, The Irishman).
Bean plays Mark Cobden, a husband, father and teacher imprisoned after accidentally killing a man, while Graham plays prison officer Eric McNally “who endeavours to protect those in his care, but finds the job can be demanding in a tense and understaffed environment,” reads a press release.
“Both Mark and Eric are faced with difficult choices as they fight for survival,” the release says.
Time is written by award-winning writer Jimmy McGovern (The Street, Cracker, Moving On) and was produced by BBC Studios Productions for BBC One.
“As we continue to grow BBC First with more premium scripted series, we made the strategic decision to acquire Time because it ticks all the boxes, including notable acting giants, a gripping plotline and a premium high-production value that audiences come to expect with BBC programming,” said Craig Junner, vice-president of programming for Canadian media at Blue Ant Media, in the press release.
“Time received rave reviews when it premiered in the U.K. earlier this year and we believe Canadian audiences are also going to love it. We’ve scheduled Time to premiere during our free preview window so millions of Canadians across the country can enjoy it.”
The first episode of the series will air Monday, Nov. 15 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, with episodes two and three airing on the following two Mondays in the same timeslot.
BBC First’s nationwide free preview runs from Nov. 1 to Jan. 2.
