Epic Story Media signs broadcast and licensing deals for kids series

TORONTO — Independent content creator and distributor Epic Story Media Inc. (ESM) announced today it has signed deals with broadcast and licensing partners on a number of series across its slate of children’s programming.

ESM has sold evergreen brand Pocoyo to WarnerMedia Kids & Family U.S. for its Cartoonito preschool block, which was launched on Sept. 13.

In addition, ESM also recently signed a deal with B.C.’s public broadcaster Knowledge Network to air the Pocoyoseries in Canada.

Owned by Zinkia Entertainment, Pocoyo is “a fun and educational series about a little boy who discovers the world around him with his inseparable group of friends,” reads a description in a press release. The series is co-managed in North America by B&R360 and ESM representing licensing and content distribution.

ESM and Mowrer Meta-Story have partnered with Reesee Entertainment for its new animated series Hailey and the Hero Hearts (pictured above). This 26-episode series launched in China this summer on more than 40 linear and digital platforms. Reesee has developed and launched a Chinese toy line based on the series.

ESM also announced it is launching global sales for Pet Shop Zombies, a 20-episode short-form series created by Aron Dunn (Treason Media) and Simon Watts (Alibi Pivotal Kids), with animation services provided at Loomi Animation and supported by Shaw Rocket Fund. Sales of the series are being launched at MIPCOM, which is running this week from Oct. 11-14.

“ESM has an exciting slate of diverse and inclusive properties for kids of all ages,” said Ken Faier, president and founder of Epic Story Media.

“We’re working with the best creators making and selling projects from around the world that kids will connect with and treasure. We’re proud to have secured fantastic collaborations with partners like Reesee Entertainment, WarnerMedia and Knowledge Network on this dynamic bunch of shows.”

Other projects on ESM’s slate include the adventure/comedy Dex and the Humanimals, produced by sister company Epic Storyworlds and commissioned by Radio-Canada, and Piper’s Pony Tales, created by Alexander Bar (Ricky Zoom, Wolf Joe) and supported by Shaw Rocket Fund and Canada Media Fund.
