EDMONTON – Super Channel announced today it acquired The Pact, a British, female-led thriller, from Lionsgate Television.
“Following the story of a group of friends, a sudden death and a web of lies, The Pact explores how ordinary people deal with extraordinary circumstances,” a press release says. “It’s a show about secrets, friendship and divided loyalties – where nothing turns out to be quite what it seems.”
The six-part limited series was created by Pete McTighe (Doctor Who, A Discovery of Witches) and directed by Eric Styles (Hidden) and Rebecca Johnson (Honeytrap, The Flash) for the BBC.
The cast includes Laura Fraser (above left; Breaking Bad), Julie Hesmondhalgh (second from the left; Coronation Street, Broadchurch), Eiry Thomas (third from the left; Keeping Faith), Heledd Gwynn (right; Ordinary Lies), Jason Hughes (Three Girls) and Aneurin Barnard (Dunkirk).
“We are excited to introduce this gripping and emotional limited series to our viewers,” said Jackie Pardy, chief content officer at Super Channel, in the press release.
“Not only is it a riveting thriller full of twists and turns that has a terrific female-led ensemble cast, but it’s also an intriguing character piece with flawed yet relatable characters who aren’t defined by their gender, race, class or sexuality.”
The Pact will have its Canadian premiere on Super Channel Fuse on Sunday, Oct. 24 at 9 p.m. ET, with each episode to be available on Super Channel on Demand the day after it airs on linear television.
Super Channel is available through most Canadian cable providers and on Amazon Prime Video and the Apple TV app.
