TSN and RDS to air IIHF Women’s World Championship games starting next week


TORONTO and MONTREAL — Bell Media announced today its TSN and RDS sports channels will provide exclusive live coverage of the 2021 IIHF Women’s World Championship, which will take place in Calgary starting next week.

TSN will deliver complete English-language coverage of all 31 tournament games from August 20 to 31, preceded by three pre-competition games on Wednesday, Aug. 18 starting at 2 p.m. ET. TSN’s complete broadcast schedule is available here.

RDS will feature French-language coverage of a total of 12 tournament games, including all Team Canada games, two quarter-finals, semi-finals and the bronze and gold medal games. RDS will also air Team Canada’s pre-tournament game on Aug. 18 at 6 p.m. ET. RDS’s full broadcast schedule is available here.

For TSN, play-by-play commentator Rod Black and two-time Olympic gold medallist Cheryl Pounder will call every Team Canada and Group A game from inside the bubble at Winsport in Calgary. Making her TSN debut, play-by-play commentator Kenzie Lalonde and two-time Olympic gold medallist Carla MacLeod will also handle broadcast duties throughout the tournament.

Hosting TSN’s coverage is Tessa Bonhomme, an IIHF Women’s World Championship gold medallist and Olympic gold medallist, alongside analysts MacLeod and Hockey Hall of Famer Jayna Hefford.

For RDS, the channel’s all-female broadcast team will include Claudine Douville and Danièle Sauvageau who will be responsible for play-by-play and analysis of all games broadcast on RDS. They will be supported by Daphnée Malboeuf and Kim St-Pierre who will accompany the players before the games and during the intermissions.
