TORONTO — Corus Studios announced today it has secured two major international content sales and has greenlit a new series, Sarah’s Mountain Escape (above), starring HGTV Canada designer Sarah Richardson.
Expanding on its relationship with Discovery in the U.S., Corus Studios has sold seasons one and three and pre-sold season four of Rust Valley Restorers to MotorTrend Group, which is majority owned by Discovery. The restoration series will air on MotorTrend TV and stream on the MotorTrend App, says a press release.
In another deal for Corus Studios, German broadcaster SevenOne Entertainment Group is acquiring a range of programming, including seasons one to three of food travelogue series Big Food Bucket List, docuseries Backroad Truckers, and the first seasons of two home renovation series – Making It Home with Kortney and Dave and Farmhouse Facelift.
The new original series Sarah’s Mountain Escape, produced by Insight Productions (a Boat Rocker company) in association with Corus Studios, will start filming this summer and is scheduled to premiere on Corus Entertainment’s HGTV Canada channel in 2022.
In the series, designer Richardson “heads west to take on her biggest challenge yet, purchasing a dated and drab 5,000-square-foot Bavarian-inspired B&B in Whistler, BC. Audiences will step inside Sarah’s life with husband Alex and daughters Robin and Fiona as they travel across the country to transform the property into an efficient and profitable, four-season luxury vacation rental,” reads a series description in the press release.
