
TORONTO — Global distributor Blue Ant International today announced LoCo Motion Pictures started production on the third season of the CBC Gem original scripted tween series Detention Adventure on July 5 in Toronto.
Blue Ant International has acquired the worldwide distribution rights to season three of the series, outside of Canada. The Toronto-based distributor licensed the first two seasons to platforms in more than 125 territories, including the U.S., the U.K., Ireland, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, Latin America, the Nordic countries and Hong Kong.
“The third season of Detention Adventure will give kids and families around the world the chance to follow this smart and captivating cast of characters as they embark on a new and exciting mystery,” said Solange Attwood, executive vice-president of Blue Ant International, in a press release.
“This award-winning series combines humor and friendship with learning and adventure in a fun and thrilling storyline that is universally appealing to buyers.”
In the new season, Carolyn Taylor (above left, Baroness Von Sketch Show) appears as a guest star in five episodes, and emerging singer, dancer and actor Danté Prince (above right) joins the cast alongside returning series regulars Simone Miller Castoro-Qualizza, Tomaso Sanelli, Alina Prijono, Jack Fulton, Lilly Bartlam, Andrew Moodie, Rodrigo Fernandez-Stoll and Stacey McGunnigle.
Detention Adventure is executive produced by Lauren Corber, president of LoCo Motion Pictures, and series co-creators Joe Kicak and Carmen Albano. The series is written by Kicak, Albano, Lisa Rose Snow, Jay Vaidya and Cassie Cao. Ryan West, founder and head of Broken Compass Films, is the producer of the series.

The Detention Adventure series originally launched in 2019 as CBC’s first original kids scripted series for CBC Gem. Since then, the series has received numerous awards including a Kidscreen Award for Best Web/App Series–Kids and Canadian Screen Awards for Best Writing, Children’s or Youth and Best Original Music, Fiction.
