Ruralwave starts FTTH installs in Leaskdale homes

LITTLE BRITAIN, Ont. — Rural broadband provider Ruralwave, a subsidiary of Rogers Communications, announced today it has begun installations of its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) service for residents in Leaskdale, Ont.

“Everyone who pre-signed for Fibre-to-the-Home high-speed Internet in Leaskdale can now schedule their installation,’” says Ruralwave’s sales manager, Ryan Williams (above right, pictured with the first Leaskdale resident to receive FTTH service, Tim McKeown, left).

Residents who pre-signed for the service will be contacted by Ruralwave to schedule their installations this week, says the company’s press release.

“The Fibre Internet is reliable and quite fast,” says McKeown, in the release. “Our Airstream TV service has been working great as well.”

Ruralwave broke ground on its FTTH project in the spring of 2021, with the participation of Dave Barton, Mayor of the Township of Uxbridge, where Leaskdale is located. (A video is available here.)

Ruralwave’s residential and business Fibre Internet plans range from 25 Mbps download speed up to 1 Gbps download. All of the company’s Fibre Internet plans include unlimited data. Ruralwave also provides TV and phone services to rural customers in central and eastern Ontario.

Currently, Ruralwave provides Internet services to more than 2,700 customers throughout the townships of Ramara, Scugog, Brock, the City of Kawartha Lakes and the Municipality of Clarington.

(Rogers purchased Ruralwave last fall.)
