LONDON, U.K. — Telus has once again been ranked as the top national wireless provider in Canada, according to the latest report from UK-based mobile analytics company Opensignal.
Out of seven categories, Telus won four awards for mobile network experience, taking first place in video experience, voice app experience, download speed and upload speed in Opensignal’s February 2021 report.
Telus was also the joint winner for the three other categories — sharing top honours with Rogers for 4G availability, splitting the award for 4G coverage experience with its network-sharer Bell, and with all three providers sharing the award for games experience. According to OpenSignal, there was no statistical difference between the three national wireless operators when it came to games experience, with all three achieving a “fair” rating in the category.
While Telus achieved the highest download speed experience score of 72.8 Mbps, Bell and Rogers users saw their download speeds improve since Opensignal released its previous report. The download speed experience for Rogers users improved by 6 Mbps, while customers on Bell saw an increase of 1.9 Mbps in download speed experience, says Opensignal.
For its February 2021 report, Opensignal analyzed the overall mobile network experience of all of its users in Canada on Telus, Bell and Rogers over a 90-day period starting on October 1, 2020. In addition to its national analysis, Opensignal also examined its users’ mobile network experience across British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic provinces. For its regional analysis, Opensignal analyzed how its users’ experience on Canada’s three national carriers compares with regional operators such as Videotron and Freedom Mobile.
