Doc-focused BBC Select now streaming

NEW YORK – As we reported in December was coming in 2021, BBC Studios today launched its new, ad-free subscription streaming channel, BBC Select.

The new streamer is focused on culture, politics, and ideas, and won’t have any entertainment programming. Available initially on Amazon Prime Video Channels and the Apple TV app, BBC Select “offers content that ranges from the weighty to the playful, the eccentric to the sublime,” reads the release.

It retails for $4.99 in the U.S. and $6.99 in Canada.

In addition to the program line-up of documentary series and specials, BBC SELECT delivers The Drop – a weekly collection of shows around a given theme – from love and sex, to war and rebellion, from parenthood and power, to race and consumerism.

Available today, newly announced programs include: The Rise of the Murdoch Dynasty, 54 Days: America and the Pandemic, TV’s Black Renaissance: Reggie Yates in Hollywood (above), The Trump Show, Feasts, Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby, Extraordinary Places to Eat, and 100 Vaginas.
