French version of Corner Gas Animated coming to Crave December 18

MONTREAL — The French adaptation of the two most recent seasons of Corner Gas Animated (Corner Gas: La Série Animée) will premiere on Crave on December 18, Bell Media announced today.

Comprised of 11 episodes per season, including a special Christmas episode as the finale of season three, the series was adapted for Quebec by comedian Sylvain Larocque.

Laurent Paquin provides the voice of main character Brent Leroy (originally voiced by Brent Butt, creator and screenwriter of the original English series). Other Quebecers who lend their voices to the French animated comedy include René Rousseau (Davis), Marika Lhoumeau (Wanda), Kim Jalabert (Lacey), Marc Bellier (Oscar), Louis Lacombe-Petrowski (Hank), Élise Bertrand (Emma) and Julie Beauchemin (Karen).

“I’m always impressed with anyone who can act in more than one language, and Sylvain Larocque blew me away time and time again at Just For Laughs doing just that. He was therefore my first choice to adapt the texts,” said Butt, in an English translation of the press release. “When it came time to find the voice of Brent’s character, Laurent Paquin really stood out. We already knew he was a master of comedy, but he also has genuine charm and natural humor to his acting. I’m very happy with this choice for the series.”

The original English version, Corner Gas Animated, debuted in April 2018 on CTV Comedy Channel. The series has seen several guest appearances such as Justin Trudeau, Jason Priestley and Win Butler from Arcade Fire. The series is produced by Vérité Films and 335 Productions, in collaboration with Bell Media. Brent Butt of Sparrow Media, David Storey of Aslan Entertainment and Virginia Thompson are executive producers and distributors of the Corner Gas franchise, in association with broadcasters CTV and CTV Comedy Channel.
