Broadcasters thank CAB’s Bissonnette as she heads to retirement

OTTAWA — As Sylvie Bissonnette (above) approaches her retirement as the long-time chief financial officer of the Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB) on November 30, the CAB is recognizing and celebrating her hard work and dedication over her almost 30 years with the organization.

“Sylvie has been the heart and soul of the CAB for three decades, and we can’t thank her enough for her dedication, tireless work and insight,” said CAB chair Lenore Gibson, in a special retirement notice sent yesterday. “Over the past decade, Sylvie has been the glue that helped hold the association together, and while we are sad to see her leave, we celebrate her career with CAB and wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement.”

Working on behalf of the broadcasting sector, Bissonnette’s time at the CAB spanned several regimes and iterations of the association. In recent years, she was the CAB’s sole employee, working not only as its CFO and vice-president of finance and administration, but also as its de facto president. During that time, she continued to maintain some of the broadcasting sector’s essential services and keep the CAB relevant to Canada’s private broadcasters, says the CAB’s notice.

“I wish Sylvie a happy, active and restful retirement,” said CAB’s new president Kevin Desjardins. “I was so happy to have our professional paths cross again, and I am deeply appreciative of all she has done to help sustain the association, and everything she has provided for our members.”

“Sylvie’s knowledge of the sector and her commitment to the members will be missed. The CAB thanks her for all her contributions, and for the strong foundation she leaves behind,” says the notice.
