SaskTel launches SaskTel Cares

REGINA — SaskTel today released its 2019/20 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report and announced the launch of its new SaskTel Cares program which incorporates all of the company’s CSR efforts.

“We know that our customers want to do business with companies that share their values and put them first,” said Doug Burnett, SaskTel president and CEO, in a press release. “We haven’t changed the way we are doing business, but with the launch of SaskTel Cares, the goal will be to bring more awareness to the many things that we do in the communities where our employees live and work.”

SaskTel’s annual CSR report details the company’s accomplishments and measurable goals in the areas of environmental stewardship, ethical leadership, inclusiveness, diversity and community support. Among the 2019/20 report’s highlights are the following:

  • SaskTel contributed almost $2.9 million to 957 non-profit and charitable organizations, community associations, venues, events and partnerships in more than 233 communities across Saskatchewan
  • SaskTel Pioneers (current and former employees) continue to volunteer in local communities, with more than 42,000 hours of volunteer time
  • SaskTel’s Supported Employment Program for individuals with cognitive disabilities is one of the company’s several diversity initiatives which continue to make SaskTel a Best Diversity Employer in Canada, as recognized in March 2020 by Mediacorp Canada for the 10th consecutive year
  • SaskTel’s EnviroCare team marked its five-year anniversary by officially reaching $5,000 worth of funds from recycling cans and bottles

“SaskTel continues to prove year after year that it is not just a service provider, it is leaving a legacy in the province of Saskatchewan,” said Don Morgan, provincial minister responsible for SaskTel. “This year’s report highlights the numerous CSR programs and initiatives SaskTel has built into its business strategy, reinforcing why it remains not only the province’s provider of choice, but also a top employer of choice.”
