TORONTO — The Canadian Ethnic Media Association (CEMA) today announced this year’s winners of its annual awards for journalistic excellence, which will be presented in the association’s first-ever virtual ceremony on November 18.
The CEMA Awards recognize outstanding achievement in ethnic media across the categories of television, radio, print, Internet, documentary, podcast (news and feature), innovation and community engagement.
The winner in the television category is Raul Dudnic, producer of OMNI Television’s Noi Romanii weekly program, for a piece called The Ethnic TV Producers.
The radio category co-winners are Dora Konomi and Irene Anargyrou, hosts/producers of the Doralicious Show on Toronto’s Agape Greek Radio, for an episode titled Save Baby Michael.
The 42nd Annual Canadian Ethnic Media Association Awards for Journalistic Excellence will be presented virtually on November 18, starting at 8 p.m. ET, on the association’s website at canadianethnicmedia.com. Ontario Creates is the sponsor of the awards.
During the awards presentation, viewers across the country will be able to watch the winners’ at-home acceptance speeches, Canadian artist performances and special guest messages, as well as see clips of the award-winning submissions.
The virtual presentation is being produced by veteran independent television producer Stan Papulkas of Edmonton, who has extensive experience working with Canada’s multicultural and multilingual television programmers.
