
TORONTO and NEW YORK — Kids content maker WildBrain announced today Apple TV+ has ordered a second season of the Daytime Emmy-nominated original series Snoopy in Space.
In addition, through an expanded partnership, which includes Peanuts Worldwide and Lee Mendelson Film Productions, new original Peanuts specials will stream on Apple TV+ alongside classic Peanuts specials beloved by fans around the world.
The Peanuts characters and related intellectual property are owned by Peanuts Worldwide, which is 41% owned by WildBrain, 39% owned by Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) and 20% owned by the family of creator Charles M. Schulz.
In addition to the second season of Snoopy in Space, new animated Peanuts originals coming to Apple TV+ include brand-new specials that find the Peanuts gang marking Mother’s Day, Earth Day, New Year’s Eve and Back to School, all to be produced by WildBrain’s animation studio.
The new series and specials join the previously announced The Snoopy Show (premiering on Apple TV+ on February 5, 2021), a new Peanuts 70th anniversary documentary film from Imagine Documentaries and WildBrain (set to premiere next year), and the Daytime Emmy Award-winning Peanuts in Space: Secrets of Apollo 10.
The classic Peanuts Halloween special, It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, will begin streaming globally on Apple TV+ on October 19, and will be available for free from October 30 to November 1 as a special treat on Apple TV+, says the WildBrain press release.
Apple TV+ will launch a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving on November 18, and the special will be available for free from November 25 to 27. Furthermore, A Charlie Brown Christmas will stream exclusively on Apple TV+ on December 4, and the holiday special will be available to customers for free from December 11 to 13.
The classic Peanuts specials were produced by the Hollywood animation studio Bill Melendez Productions, with Lee Mendelson Film Productions.
