REGINA – SaskTel announced last week that as of September 30th, residents in the resort village of Hitchcock Bay will be able to access improved broadband via interNET Extended 5 and 10 as well as maxTV Stream.
SaskTel’s DSL-powered interNET Extended 5 offers download speeds up to 5 Mbps while Extended 10 offers download speeds up to 10 Mbps. All SaskTel interNET packages come with unlimited usage, in-home Wi-Fi, and 24/7 helpdesk support. MaxTV Stream is the company’s IPTV service, which integrates streaming apps like Netflix.
The expansion was made possible by SaskTel’s Community Participation Program in partnership with the Resort Village of Hitchcock Bay, says the company. The program is for regions which do not meet SaskTel’s criteria for service expansion where the communities provide a portion of the funds required to cover the capital costs to bring SaskTel services to their residents. “This program helps SaskTel to sustainably expand services to areas of the province where it may not otherwise be economically feasible to do so,” reads the release.
Also last week, the provincial Crown corporation said residents in the rural communities of Exner’s Twin Bay, Moose Bay, Greenspot, Ponteix, Indian Point, Sunset Beach, and Melville Beach will get interNET Extended 25 as well as maxTV Stream as of September 30th.
