Ewan McGregor-narrated wildlife series to premiere on Love Nature

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Blue Ant Media’s Love Nature channel released today the official trailer for its new natural history series Stormborn, narrated by actor Ewan McGregor, while also announcing it will host the series’ world broadcast premiere in November.

Commissioned by Love Nature and created by Scotland-based Maramedia, the three-part series (3 episodes x 50 minutes) was filmed in Norway, Scotland and Iceland, and captures some of the world’s most hardy animals over one dramatic breeding year. The series was produced in association with Smithsonian Channel, ARTE France, BBC Scotland and Screen Scotland. Blue Ant International oversees licensing of the series, which will be available at MIPCOM 2020 in October.

Following a theatrical screening event at Jackson Wild Summit this fall and the series’ world premiere on Love Nature in November, the series will debut on Smithsonian Channel in the U.S., BBC Scotland, and ARTE in France and Germany.

In light of the pandemic, McGregor’s involvement in the production was made possible by Vaudeville Studios in Los Angeles, which converted a caravan in McGregor’s garden into a custom studio. By installing a high-grade microphone and a Wi-Fi connection, Maramedia was able to record McGregor’s narration directly into its facility, while patching the production team in using software that converted laptops into a console with talk-back facilities, explains the news release.

“I was so happy to work with Nigel and Jackie [Maramedia] again to narrate another breathtakingly beautiful series about the tough animals of the North. It’s special for me to do work that focuses on Scotland’s majesty and with Norway and Iceland included too it makes for such cinematic drama,” said McGregor, in the release.

Stormborn is the first collaboration between Love Nature and Maramedia and features a cast of charismatic, tenacious animals surviving and thriving in the remote, northern edges of the Atlantic Ocean, says the release. The trilogy includes several instances of animal behaviour, in the rarely explored latitude of Subarctic, that have never been seen by scientists or captured on film, says the release. Production crews worked with local scientists and wildlife experts at every shooting site to advise on locations and animal behaviours.
