Quebec drug cartel pilot’s life subject of new Crave doc series

MONTREAL —Bell Media’s Crave announced today it will begin airing on August 19 a new four-part French-language documentary series about flight-instructor-turned-drug-cartel-pilot Raymond Boulanger.

Le Dernier Vol de Raymond Boulanger (The Last Flight of Raymond Boulanger) chronicles the life of the infamous Quebecer who became a pilot for the Colombian drug cartels. In 1992, after landing illegally on a tiny runway in Casey, Que., with four tons of cocaine on board, Boulanger was arrested and received a heavy prison sentence.

After 20 years in prison and six years on parole, Boulanger now suffers from cancer. In this series, he reveals for the first time many secrets about his journey as a mercenary pilot on the eve of a final flight to Colombia.

Le Dernier Vol de Raymond Boulanger is an original idea by Marc-Antoine Audette and Sébastien Trudel. Consisting of four 60-minute episodes, the series is produced by Patrick Francke-Sirois of Casadel Films in collaboration with Bell Media. (FWIW, we’d love to see an English subtitled or dubbed version of this tale.)
