PCMag says Telus is fastest

TORONTO – Telus today was named the fastest internet service provider (ISP) in Canada by PCMag.

The publication recognized Telus as the fastest among the major ISPs. Rogers placed second and Bell, third, among the six large ISPs PCMag recognizes in Canada. The magazine used results from 33,782 tests in Canada taken between June 1, 2019, and June 2, 2020.

“We take 80 percent of the download speed, 20 percent of the upload speed, and add those numbers to generate a PCMag Speed Index (PSI). That number makes it easy to perform an at-a-glance determination of exactly which ISP is the fastest, as well as make quick comparisons to results from previous years,” explains the publication. On the mobile side, fellow tester Ookla said Telus was the fastest there, hitting an Ookla speec score of 72.11, with average speeds of 87.31 Mbps for download and 13.04 Mbps for upload, reads the Telus release. Please click here for more on that.

Telus was also recognized earlier this year by testers Opensignal, for tying for #1 in the world for fastest mobile network speeds, and Victoria-based Tutela, for quality, download throughput, and latency in Canada.
