New live video network for content creators launches

TORONTO — A new Canadian-based, direct-to-consumer, live video network launched last week by Onviva Broadcasting Corporation is providing content creators with a new way to deliver and get paid for live broadcasts showcasing their talents and virtual events.

Launched on Canada Day, the Onviva live video network offers a full suite of options for content creators to increase their income potential with live video broadcasts, says the news release.

“Our mission is to democratize the live video industry with our Canadian-based direct to consumer live video network, with no ads and no algorithms to clutter creator broadcasts. We invite content creators of all kinds to join us today and make money tomorrow,” said Onviva founder and CEO Michael O’Farrell, in the release.

Recognizing the hardship Covid-19 has created for all audience-facing Canadian creators, Onviva says it is supporting this community by allowing any content creator who signs up with Onviva at www.onviva.studio between July 1 and July 31, 2020 to take home 85% of revenues they generate until December 31, 2020. Onviva is a registered SOCAN member. Creator payouts are processed by PayPal, says the release.

“Our business model is simple — and uniquely Canadian,” said Chris Smith, president and COO, in the news release. “We only get paid when creators get paid — and we pay creators weekly with no minimum payout restrictions.”
