
TORONTO — Global TV today unveiled its 2020-21 programming lineup which will see the premiere this fall of the new original series Departure, starring Christopher Plummer and Archie Panjabi (The Good Wife).
Making its North American broadcast premiere on Global, Departure is a six-part series that follows the investigation into the disappearance of Flight 716, a passenger plane that vanishes over the Atlantic Ocean. Panjabi stars as investigator Kendra Malley, who is brought in by her mentor Howard Lawson (played by Plummer) to lead the team looking into the crash. The series is produced by Shaftesbury and Greenpoint Productions.
Global also announced it has licensed two new series for its fall schedule: The Equalizer, a reimagining of the classic series, starring Queen Latifah (Chicago, Bessie), who also serves as executive producer; and sci-fi drama neXt, starring John Slattery (Mad Men) as a Silicon Valley pioneer who discovers one of his creations might spell global catastrophe.
As previously reported, Global is also adding the newsmagazine shows 60 Minutes and 48 Hours to its fall lineup.
Among the series returning to Global this fall is season four of Private Eyes, featuring 12 new episodes starring Jason Priestley as Shade and Cindy Sampson as Angie. Production partners Corus Entertainment and independent studio Entertainment One (eOne) also announced the renewal of the series, with season five slated to air on Global later in 2021.
Other returning series this fall include New Amsterdam, Survivor, Evil, FBI, FBI: Most Wanted, The Blacklist, MacGyver, SEAL Team, Bull, The Neighborhood, The Unicorn, NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: New Orleans.
In addition, Global announced it will broadcast the 2020 Canadian Country Music Awards on Sunday, September 27 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. This year’s celebration of Canadian country music will take place in both Toronto and Nashville in an all-new production format.

Looking ahead to 2021, the Global Original legal drama Family Law will debut, starring Jewel Staite (Firefly) and Victor Garber (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow), and season two of Global Original series Nurses, from ICF Films and eOne, will also join Global’s 2021 schedule.
