TVA to premier new variety show this winter

MONTREAL — Quebecor’s TVA announced Monday a new variety show is on its way this winter, Sans rancune (No Hard Feelings), which aims to poke fun at average Quebecers.

Created and produced by Attraction Images, in collaboration with Quebecor Content, Sans rancune will see representatives of a specific group — it could be hairdressers, millennials, Canadiens fans, new parents, people with tattoos or dog owners — descend on the TVA studios to be roasted by the show’s host and two sidekicks.

The show’s panel will lightheartedly highlight their guests’ imperfections — as well as their own — by focusing on common prejudices and misconceptions, says the news release. The program will tackle universal topics that all Quebecers can relate to, either through personal experience or via someone close to them. Viewers will have a chance to laugh at social stereotypes with the show’s mix of stand-up comedy, variety performances and on-location footage.

“There’s no doubt that Quebecers have a great appreciation for the art of comedy, and this new format — developed right here, specifically for them — will give us an opportunity to enjoy ourselves as we collectively poke fun at our faults, without taking ourselves too seriously. On Sans rancune, we share a good-natured laugh with people from all backgrounds and all regions of Quebec,” explains Denis Dubois, vice-president of original content for Quebecor Content, in an English translation of the news release.
