Global’s Living in Colour: Being Black in Canada special airs Friday

TORONTO — Global News announced Monday it will broadcast a special primetime edition of its Living in Colour series on Friday, June 12 to provide a forum for open dialogue about the issue of racism in Canada.

The latest in a long-running series, Living in Colour: Being Black in Canada will explore the ways in which all Canadians, institutions, businesses and governments can actively support anti-racism, says the news release.

Living in Colour began airing in Global newscasts and on digital platforms in 2018 as an initiative of Global News producer Alley Wilson and anchor Farah Nasser. Seeking to give audiences the perspectives of marginalized populations, the series has tackled issues such as racism in hockey, Blackface and the relationship between police and racialized communities.

Hosted by Nasser, Living in Colour: Being Black in Canada will air Friday, June 12 at 7 p.m. ET on Global.

“I’m proud to work for an organization which understands the importance right now of focusing a show on Black voices to help us understand the everyday reality of being Black in Canada,” said Nasser, in the news release. “This is our time to listen and learn.”
