MISSISSAUGA — In an effort to support broadcasters whose employees are working from home, telecom and IT infrastructure supplier Applied Electronics Limited has compiled a list of solutions available to achieve professional live production and broadcasting from home set-ups.
Based on the network device interface (NDI) software standard, some of the live IP video broadcast and distribution tools from Mountain View, Calif.-based TVU Networks are being provided free of charge until at least April 30.
Free services currently being offered by TVU Networks (pictured) to news organizations include:
- TVU Anywhere app, to transmit simultaneously to SDI and digital, broadcast-quality live video using 3G/4G-LTE/Wi-Fi aggregation.
- TVU Grid, to access TVU’s high-quality, low-latency pool feed from hundreds of broadcasters and news agencies.
- TVU Producer (pictured) for cloud-based professional multi-camera live production.
TVU Networks says these services are accessible for free whether customers have TVU equipment or not. TVU will offer cloud or physical receivers when needed. The software enables news organizations to conduct live broadcast interviews, TV shows, events and educational sessions all within a cloud-based software production switcher that is controlled from a laptop or mobile device, says Applied.
Other partner companies’ solutions highlighted by Applied Electronics include the NDI live production solutions from NewTek, such as NDI-HX Capture and NDI-HX Camera applications, which turn mobile iOS devices and device cameras into NDI sources for live video production.
Other solutions include:
- Vizrt’s Viz Vectar IP-native multi-format live production switching system
- Studio Network Solutions’ EVO shared media storage server
- BirdDog’s Studio NDI encoder and decoder
- Sony’s SRG-X400 IP 4K pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) camera with NDI-HX capability
