LOS ANGELES — As it gears up to launch next week, short-form mobile video streaming platform Quibi announced its roster of scripted and unscripted shows which will be available during April.
Designed specifically for smartphones, Quibi content will be available in what it calls “Quick Bites” of 10 minutes or less. Among the movies that will be available, in chapters, at launch are: dystopian action-thriller Most Dangerous Game, starring Liam Hemsworth and Christopher Waltz; and against-the-elements drama Survive, starring Sophie Turner and Corey Hawkins. Unscripted series and documentaries available April 6 will include: I Promise, an uplifting documentary series executive produced by Lebron James; and Memory Hole, an unscripted comedic series hosted by Will Arnett.
Starting April 13, the drama movie #FreeRayshawn, starring Laurence Fishburne, Stephan James, Skeet Ulrich and Jasmine Cephas Jones, will be available in chapters. On April 20, comedy movie Dummy, starring Anna Kendrick, will premiere on Quibi.
Among the other highlights of the programming announced by Quibi are: horror anthology series 50 States of Fright executive produced by Sam Raimi (April 13); eight-part travel series Cup of Joe starring Joe Jonas (April 27); and moving dance floor competition series Floored hosted by Liza Koshy (April 27).
One of the features of Quibi when it launches will be short-form daily content, and the service previously announced Bell Media as its first Canadian daily content provider.
The service will cost C$6.99 per month with advertising and C$9.99 without ads.
