Thunderbird’s Atomic Cartoons teams with Jim Henson Co. for new animated series

VANCOUVER — Thunderbird Entertainment announced Thursday its kids and family division, Atomic Cartoons, is partnering with the Jim Henson Company to develop a new animated series called Nate Create.

The animated series is created by Alex Rockwell (Norman Picklestripes, Word Party), who also executive produces alongside Lisa Henson and Halle Stanford for the Jim Henson Company, and Jennifer Twiner McCarron and Matthew Berkowitz for Atomic Cartoons.

Nate Create follows the adventures of a young boy who draws worlds into existence, and then fights to protect them. Every world he creates will showcase a different artistic style, including origami, watercolour, 2D, cut-out, stop-motion and CG. Atomic Cartoons says in its news release that Nate Create is one of the most ambitious productions the studio has ever undertaken.

A report on Kidscreen.com says the Jim Henson Company is working on the 52 x 11-minute episode series with Atomic Cartoons, which is co-developing and co-producing the project out of its Vancouver studio.
