NORTH BAY, Ont. — Registration for Canada’s rural and remote broadband conference series, Bridging the Digital Divide, is now open. In response to the overwhelming feedback at the inaugural event this past November and requests to broaden its coverage, organizers have announced there will be three conferences this year.
The dates and places for the conferences are as follows:
- May 5–7: Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, Banff, Alberta
- May 19–21: Fredericton Convention Centre, Fredericton, New Brunswick
- October 5–7: Deerhurst Resort Muskoka, Huntsville, Ontario
The conferences provide a tremendous information sharing forum for community leaders, rural advocates, service providers and government. The series is a unique opportunity for stakeholders to come together and share their knowledge, experiences and lessons learned on the challenges and realities of creating a sustainable and ubiquitous digital economy for the rural and remote regions of Canada.
The agenda will focus on educating and informing community leaders and related stakeholders about the challenges and options surrounding the implementation of broadband solutions in their regions and the evolving technological landscape, specifically in rural and remote areas. Cartt.ca will once again be a media sponsor.
“The inaugural conference was well received and accomplished my goals of initiating a focused discussion about the issues communities are facing and opening up the support ecosystem that is available in Canada. Various groups reached out to me after the first event to discuss how the initiative could be shared across the country. The 2020 series is the start of this national journey,” says Amedeo Bernardi, founder of the conference series.
