CALGARY — Corus Radio’s Country 105 has helped to raise more than $3.7 million this year through its Caring For Kids Radiothon for the Alberta Children’s Hospital.
Minutes before wrapping up the station’s 17th annual radiothon on Friday evening, on-air personalities from Country 105 announced radiothon supporters had phoned, clicked online and walked into the hospital with a record-breaking $1.86 million in gifts. With matching funds added by the Crist Family Foundation, this year’s event raised more than $3.7 million for the Alberta Children’s Hospital. This brings the overall Caring For Kids Radiothon total to more than $35 million since 2003.
Over the course of the three-day radiothon, nearly 70 families shared their personal stories with Country 105. Each family expressed their gratitude for the exceptional care they received from specialists at the Alberta Children’s Hospital — and helped to highlight in very real terms how donations help save and changes lives at the hospital every day.
“The opportunity to have every donation matched was incredibly exciting because it means we can do even more for the Alberta Children’s Hospital,” said Phil Kallsen, program director for Country 105. “Radiothon is the most meaningful part of our year at Country 105. It’s really inspiring to see our listeners step up again this year to so generously support the kids and families at the hospital.”
