Save the dates for Canada’s Rural and Remote Broadband conferences

NORTH BAY – Canada’s Rural & Remote Broadband Conference has expanded and announced the dates and locations for three conferences in 2020.

The increased number of gatherings is in response to the overwhelming feedback of the inaugural event this past November and requests to broaden its coverage, said organizer Amedeo Bernardi.

“My colleagues and I attended the conference in November and were extremely pleased with the quality of the presentations and information shared,” said Beverly Nantel, mayor of Dubreuilville, Ont., in the press release. “It was an especially good opportunity to meet many who are facing the same challenges as our community. We were able to make valuable connections with other leaders and experts in the field.”

The conferences will run as follows:

  • May 5th – 7th: Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, Banff, Alberta
  • May 19th – 21st: Fredericton Convention Centre, Fredericton, New Brunswick
  • October 5th – 7th: Deerhurst Resort Muskoka, Huntsville, Ontario

“The inaugural conference was well received and accomplished my goals of initiating a focused discussion about the issues communities are facing and opening up the support ecosystem that is available in Canada,” added Bernardi in the release. “Various groups reached out to me after the first event to discuss how the initiative could be shared across the country. The 2020 series is the start of this national journey.”

The agenda will focus on educating and informing community leaders and related stakeholders about the challenges and options surrounding the implementation of broadband solutions in their regions and the evolving technological landscape, specifically in rural and remote areas.

Each event will begin with a welcome reception on the first evening, followed by two full days of information sharing.
