Cable 14 will live stream contentious local inquiry

HAMILTON — Cable 14 announced Monday it will provide both live broadcast and online streaming coverage of the first two meetings to be held in the Red Hill Valley Parkway Inquiry (RHVPI), which is investigating the circumstances surrounding the failed disclosure of a six-year-old safety report regarding the roadway.

The RHVPI will hold a public meeting in Hamilton on January 9, 2020, where the inquiry’s commissioner, Justice Herman Wilton-Siegel, will speak about the status and process of the inquiry, and the public will have a chance to ask questions about the timetable and procedures, including the participation of the public. Cable 14’s live coverage will begin at 7 p.m.

On January 10, Justice Wilton-Siegel will hear oral submissions from nine applicants who submitted applications to participate in and may have sought funding for the RHVPI. Live coverage of the meeting will begin at 10 a.m.

Cable 14 will provide live coverage on both its linear broadcast channel and on its online portal at www.cable14now.com. Both meetings will be rebroadcast later in the week and will also be archived on the portal for viewing on-demand.

“The RHVPI will be an important story in the Greater Hamilton community in 2020. Cable 14 is proud to bring these initial two events to our subscribers. We will be following the Inquiry throughout 2020 and plan to provide the most comprehensive coverage available anywhere,” said Bill Custers, senior manager, broadcast, TV Hamilton Limited, in a news release.

Cable 14 is a division of TV Hamilton Limited and is owned and operated as a community channel by its shareholders, Cogeco Communications and Rogers Communications.
