New Yonge/Dundas store showcases all of what Rogers does – and will be able to do in the future
TORONTO – Just in time for Christmas, Rogers Communications will open a state-of-the-art flagship retail store, Rogers 302, tomorrow (December 12).
Located in one of the busiest intersections in the country (50 million people per year pass through Yonge and Dundas), the 9,000 sq.-ft. space – at 302 Yonge St. – will provide an in-store experience unlike any other across the Rogers retail chain.
Rogers 302 will showcase all of the latest wireless, connected home technology, and media content for consumers and businesses. The store features all sorts of special demo spaces – and a coffee-shop, too.
The interactive zones and dedicated spaces for events and exhibits will feature cutting-edge technology from across Rogers and its industry-leading partners, especially Google, Apple and Samsung. In fact, there is a whole “Pixelville” of four different rooms which demonstrates all of what Google and Rogers can do together.
As the first 5G-ready retail space in the country, Rogers 302 is equipped with 5G network technology and spectrum so when Rogers 5G network goes live in 2020, the store’s specially trained staff will be able to demonstrate the benefits of 5G technology for the home, business, and connected living.
While customers can purchase products and services at the new flagship, the store is meant to be more about the experience and technology and what can be, especially when 5G arrives, than to make sure enough handsets are pushed out the door to cover the costs of the cool new space. It’s also meant to be a test and learn lab, as well.
“Technology is changing rapidly with more choices than ever and this will explode in a 5G world,” said Brent Johnston, president of Wireless in a release. “Customers want to experience and understand this new technology with the guidance of a knowledgeable expert. Rogers 302 is a major step forward in our commitment to innovating both the product and customer experience in the retail space.”
“Rogers 302 is retail reimagined,” added Anne Martin-Vachon, chief retail officer. “It’s all about the customer experience – featuring innovative in-store experiences, end-to-end personalized service and expertise, all in a beautifully designed modern space. When we open our doors, it’s an invitation to stay, play and discover.”
The company will use the space to test certain nascent technologies and expects to offer its vendors space to do the same, added Martin-Vachon.
Other highlights of Rogers 302 include:
- The Rogers 5G Music Hall, which lets users experience the future of 5G technology through music – featuring hologrammed musicians
- Unique Connected Living spaces where customers can go hands-on with Ignite TV.
- Contemporary design offers visitors a variety of hands-on experiences with various types of technology in an elevated branded environment
- The fully technology-enabled business and event space also caters to the needs of Rogers for Business clients and the entrepreneurs of tomorrow
- Dedicated company ambassadors will deliver personalized support to customers through the in-store experience while highly-trained product experts have flexibility to serve customers throughout the store
Doors officially open on Thursday, December 12 at 8 a.m. The first 100 people on opening day will receive an exclusive gift package valued at $200
Premium prizing giveaways throughout four-day weekend event include: Toronto Maple Leaf tickets, the latest mobile devices, memorabilia signed by Canadian sports legends and more.
