TORONTO – This December, independent broadcaster Hollywood Suite will release its first ever original series, A Year in Film, with its month-long free preview.
The nationwide free preview, which runs from December 1 to January 5, allows viewers to enjoy free unlimited access to all four of Hollywood Suite’s HDTV channels and Hollywood Suite On Demand.
“We are so proud of A Year in Film that we want to give every Canadian the ability to see it. It made perfect sense to launch our first-ever original series during this time,” said David Kines, president of Hollywood Suite, in a company press release.
“Each episode of A Year in Film transports viewers back to a particular year and examines the politics, pivotal cultural events and films that made their mark during that timeframe, as well as the impact Canadian filmmakers have had on movie culture.
“In addition, we have carefully chosen a supporting lineup of films analyzed in the series, so viewers can really be immersed in each of the featured years in the episodes. Plus, we have a host of holiday programming handpicked for families to enjoy together,” added Kines.
For example, A Year in Film: 1978 will flashback to “a year where movies reflect on troubles of the past and anxiety for the future,” describes the release. That year brought musicals such as Grease, Thank God It’s Friday and Jubilee, while The Deer Hunter and Coming Home explored the impact of The Vietnam War. In Canada, a new tax incentive helped creates art with films like The Silent Partner.
It will premiere on Hollywood Suite 70s Movies on December 8, 2019 at 9 p.m. ET
Of course, viewer can look for a ton of Christmas fare during December with holiday family classics like A Christmas Carol (1984), Jingle All the Way (1996), The Family Man (2000), Runaway Christmas Bride (2017), A Different Kind of Christmas (1996), A Christmas Tail (2014) and New Year’s Kiss (2019).
