VANCOUVER – Micro/narrow trenching technologies company Lite Access announced this week CityFibre, a U.K. leading provider of wholesale full fibre infrastructure has awarded the company a contract for fibre-to-the premises (FTTP) installation to over 28,000 homes in Lowestoft, England.
The contract is valued at approximately CAD$20 million over two years, said the company press release.
CityFibre is the U.K.'s third national digital infrastructure platform and has existing networks in more than 50 towns and cities. “As part of the U.K. government's ambition for national full fibre coverage by 2025, CityFibre is investing £2.5 billion in its Gigabit City investment program which aims to reach more than five million homes, over 20% of the UK market, by the end of 2025,” reads the press release.
“Lowestoft is one of 14 Gigabit City projects recently announced as part of a second phase of rollouts, extending CityFibre's reach to over two million homes across 26 towns and cities. CityFibre has commenced detailed network design and Lite Access has been selected as its network construction partner.”
"We are extremely pleased to have secured this substantial contract with CityFibre,” said Carlo Shimoon, Lite Access president and CEO. “We are absolutely thrilled that CityFibre has chosen us to be a provider on this very important fibre buildout to transform the UK's digital infrastructure… Importantly, among the main reasons for delayed rollouts in the U.K. and one of the biggest challenges facing the country's digital transformation being lack of contractor capacity and slow deployment by contractors, Lite Access has found itself in the right place, at the right time, with the right solutions.”
The company’s products have been deployed in many communication networks including Olympic facilities, military and government, numerous communities throughout the United Kingdom, the USA and Canada as well as global telecommunications companies
