WOODSTOCK, N.B. – Xplornet Communications today launched its new unlimited data plans for its satellite Internet customers across rural Canada.

Called DataXtend, the unlimited data plans, at various speeds, are available today to current and new satellite customers in every province on Xplornet's satellite broadband network.

"Rural Canadians have been clear: they want access to high-speed Internet at affordable prices without overage charges, regardless of where they choose to live, work or play," said Allison Lenehan, president and CEO, in the company press release.

DataXtend plans are available at all speed levels, starting from $99.99 per month. Speeds are slowed to between 1-2 Mbps, depending on the plan, when customers hit their data caps, says the company. "The objective is to allow for unlimited browsing at no extra charge for the remainder of the month. For 10 Mbps plans, it is 1 Mbps after the customer reaches their quota. For 25 Mbps plans, it is 2 Mbps," explained Xplornet  VP public affairs, James Maunder, in an email to Cartt.ca.

For a limited time, however, promotional discounts are available to give new customers the opportunity to try the company’s fastest service at the same promotional rate as its entry level plans, starting at $59.99/month for three months.

Details about the new plans are here.
