MONTREAL – The first projects under the Quebec-based SCALE.AI Supercluster, one of four members of the Feds’ Innovation Superclusters Initiative, will harness artificial intelligence to cut costs and increase efficiencies in the telecom, consumer goods, farming, and shipping sectors.
ISED Minister Navdeep Bains made the announcement Thursday from Ray-Mont Logistics, a Montréal-based logistics services company facilitating international trade by enhancing the container supply chain.
"SCALE.AI is just getting started transforming the AI sector, creating good jobs here at home and establishing Canada as a global leader in AI,” he said in a statement. “These projects will capitalize on this leadership to produce tangible benefits for other sectors of the economy. These projects are part of a game-changing initiative that will dramatically reduce industry costs on a range of services, including shipping and inventory."
The federal government pledged to invest up to $2 million in these first projects, combined with $3.1 million in contributions from industry and other partners.
The SCALE.AI Supercluster is expected to create more than 16,000 jobs and add more than $16.5 billion to Canada's economy over 10 years.
