CBC kicks off Canadian Premier League action on April 27

TORONTO – CBC will be the exclusive television broadcast home for the inaugural season of Canada’s new tier-one men’s professional soccer league, the Canadian Premier League (CPL).

The CPL’s 2019 season sees the seven founding clubs – Pacific FC (Vancouver Island, BC), FC Edmonton (Edmonton, AB), Cavalry FC (Calgary, AB), Valour FC (Winnipeg, MB), Forge FC (Hamilton, ON), York9 FC (York Region, ON), and HFX Wanderers FC (Halifax, NS) – square off over two distinct halves to crown winners that will advance to the 2019 Canadian Premier League Championship. The Spring season runs from April 27 to July 1, where the first of two winners will be named. The Fall season begins on July 6 and runs until October 19.

CBC will have live coverage of 10 games throughout the season and an additional 10 games will be available via free live streaming coverage at cbcsports.ca, the CBC Gem streaming service, and via the CBC Sports app for iOS and Android devices. All games will be produced by Barcelona-based production company Mediapro.

The first game kicks off on April 27 at 1:00 PM ET /10:00 AM PT from Hamilton’s Tim Hortons Field as Forge FC (Hamilton) hosts Ontario rivals York9 FC (York Region), available on CBC and the CBC Gem streaming service.

CBC Sports will also offer CPL videos, player profiles and highlight shows across its platforms.
